Rogation Sunday

Rogation Sunday, the 6th Sunday of Easter, is traditionally the date given when the new crops in the fields, and in later years the forthcming years work in Commerce and Industry, are blessed. It is a kind of saying please to Harvest's thankyou.

From the middle ages it was also the time when the parish border's were check and marked, in the ancient ceremony of 'Beating the bounds'.
