Farthingstone Church

Christine's Window

On the south wall of the chancel. The figure of Flora is a design in the manner of Edward Byrne-Jones from the firm of William Morris. Many of his designs we used over and over again in various churches, but Flora is comparatively rare. It is unusual - although by no means unique, in that it started off as a design that for a tapestry. The tapestry was made in 1884-85. St Mary's Church Farthingstone seems to be the only Church containing flora which makes this window of particular interest.
