Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter Sunday, and marks the beginning of Holy Week. It celebrates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The bible descibes him riding a donkey and the people laying down their clothes and branches from palm trees for him to ride over whilst they shouted 'Hosanna'.

Crosses made of palm leaves are often distributed on this day.

Traditionally the priest wears red vestments on this day.

In the benefice it is often celebrated with a re-enactment. After meeting on the Blakesley village green, a hymn is sung and the congregation make their way into church following a donkey or small pony.
